District Governor Cindy Chase delighted the Arvada Rotary Club on September 23rd with an insightful visit and discussion about the meaning of Rotary service and membership. While service to the community is important, the community membership provides is equally significant. The friendships and bonds formed over years and decades have supported individuals here and abroad. Cindy also spoke about the legacy Rotary creates for others' futures, and why the youth programs have so much value locally, nationally, and internationally. She asked our group what service we can continue to provide to others. What can we teach young people they can do? And what culture do we want to leave behind?
On that note, Lorraine attended the Evergreen Rotary meeting, where a rising high school student and several middle school students discussed their experiences at the RYLA camps this past summer (Rotary Youth Leadership Awakening). These are awesome opportunities for kids to learn what it means to be both a leader and a collaborator, and why both roles matter in life.
